Throwback Thursday - Warriors Star Klay Thompson Scores 37 In One Quarter
The time has come. After a grueling 82-game season and three rounds of the battle that is playoff basketball, the NBA Finals are finally set to tip off tonight. For the Golden State Warriors, it marks their return to the championship round for the first time since, well, I’ve been alive.
Fortunately,†Stephen Curry and his crew†will be coming at LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers with all of their guns in the holster. Sharpshooting guard Klay Thompson has been cleared to play in Game 1 of the series.
Thompson has a reputation as one of the better defenders in the league, but it’s his ability to shoot and score the ball that has made for the best headlines this season. Just in time for Throwback Thursday, here is Thompson at his scoring bestñripping the nets in a late-January game against the Sacramento Kings to the tune of 37 points in one quarter.
For the night, Thompson finished with 52 points and the Warriors cruised to a 126-101 victory over the Kings. The clip is proof positive that the Cleveland can’t sleep on Thompson, Curry and the rest of the Golden State squad.
While some might say that the Cavs have the best player leading their charge for title gold, Klay Thompson has shown that he can turn the tide of a game in the blink of an eye with his ability to score the basketball in bunches.
If Cleveland isn’t on their defensive game, a healthy Thomspon could erupt at any moment.
