2 Chainz Announces Pretty Girls Like Trap Music Tour
It’s been a crazy six years for 2 Chainz, a rapper first known more for his guest verses than his solo work but who has definitely claimed a high-standing place in today’s hip-hop world. This year alone, 2 Chainz soared to the top and proved he is one of the most prolific rappers out there by rapidly releasing projects. Not only did he release Collegrove, a collaborative album with Lil Wayne, but 2 Chainz dropped three mix tapes as well: Felt Like Cappin’, Daniel Son; Necklace Don and Hibachi for Lunch. It’s no wonder that he’s lauded by fans, fellow rappers, and critics alike.
Now, 2 Chainz is getting ready to follow-up last year’s outpour of rap with what will certainly be an incredible record, especially considering its guest list. There were a few hindrances that almost completely got in the way of fans having access to 2 Chainz’s new album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, which was originally scheduled for a March release. Even after 2 Chainz fired some shots at his label on Instagram, it looks like things have cooled down between the “Got Drank” rapper and Def Jam, because Pretty Girls Like Trap Music will be hitting our earbuds, finally, on June 16th.
2 Chainz has just announced a 35-date North American tour in support of Pretty Girls Like trap Music, scheduled to kick off June 25th with a performance at the BET Experience Weekend. So far, the only guests listed for the Pretty Girls Like Trap Music Tour is the Trap Choir, who joined 2 Chainz on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a performance of “Good Drank”, but considering the number of collaborators present on the album, we anticipate that 2 Chainz will have the opportunity to pull out several surprise guests on tour.
So it looks like 2 Chainz fans have a lot to look forward to this Summer, beginning with the arrival of Pretty Girls Like Trap Music. On the official three minute trailer, we see clips of 2 Chainz in studio with Pharrell, Mike Dean, and Drake, the latter of which can be heard saying quite the complimenting his friend and frequent collaborator. “You’re, like, one of my favorite rappers of all time and sh–. I gotta say that,” Drake tells Chainz.
Pretty Girls Like Trap Music is bolstered by Gucci Mane, Ty Dolla $ign, Quavo, Migos, Drake, Jhene Aiko, Pharrell, and more. The album, which has already been preceded by a string of amazing singles (” Got Drank”, “It’s a Vibe”), features a mix of artists and musicians 2 Chainz says “fits them and their songs perfectly; not just because of who they are, but because of the instrumentation of their voices. With these new instruments I’m testing on this project, I still have my edgy content, but I think my instrumentation is a step above anything else I have ever done.”
Yesterday, 2 Chainz set up a pop-up shop in SoHo to sell Pretty Girls Like Trap Music merch, which was designed in partnership with GucciGhost, otherwise known as Trouble Andrew. “When we were trying to decide what would be the perfect cover for Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, I didn’t want to actually use an image of a female,” the rapper told Billboard at the pop-up. “I had an idea to use something that came from my background, which would be the trap or the ‘trap house.’ Then I thought about what symbolizes people all over the world, whether young or old, who are beautiful inside and out.” Not only were his promotional items a giant hit, 2 Chainz even took two of the three hours the shop was up to sign merch and autographs.
2 Chainz Tickets will be going on sale to the public on June 9 at 10 a.m. EST via the rapper’s website, which you can access here. Don’t forget, Pretty Girls Like Trap Music arrives on June 16th. You can check out our list of other incredible albums that are due out this Summer here.
