It’s finally here. The inaugural Dreamville Festival—rescheduled for April 6th at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina—has announced its incredible lineup. Headlining the festival will be J. Cole, followed by SZA, 21 Savage, Big Sean, and 6LACK. Also included in the lineup is Teyana Taylor, Nelly, Bas, Rapsody, Saba, Ari Lennox, and more. With all of this talent in one place, April 6th could end up being one of the best days for live hip-hop in 2019.
Originally scheduled for last September, the Dreamville Festival had to cancel its opening due to safety concerns over Hurricane Florence. Thankfully, much of the same lineup is able to perform at the Dreamville Festival next month. In order to uphold promises of being a one-of-a-kind music festival in the heyday of music fests, the Dreamville Festival boasts lawn games, a putt putt golf course, sand sculptures, photo booths, and an expansive beer garden.
The Dreamville Festival is a homegrown event in every sense. The food and alcohol will be provided by vendors from Raleigh and the Carolinas. Students from the North Carolina State University College of Design will have their works featured on the Dreamville Festival Art Wall. There will also be an area dedicated to The Divine Nine, the nine historically Black Greek letter organizations (BGLOs) that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
Besides organizing what will likely be one of the best rap music festivals in 2019, J. Cole has been busy prepping both his sixth studio album and a new Dreamville Records compilation, Revenge of the Dreamers III. So far, J. Cole’s only release of 2019 has been last month’s “Middle Child“.
