Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium History and Overview
In 1927, a group of freshman students used leftover rocks from the original construction of Memorial Stadium to build an “M” landmark, starting the long pride of Mizzou fans. In 1972, it received its new name Faurot Field to honor the legendary football coach of the same name. The original name, Memorial Stadium, without Faurout was chosen to honor the 112 alumni and students who were killed during WWI. The stadium now has a capacity of 62,621.
