Maryland SECU Stadium Seating Overview

Hover over any section for a row by row breakdown.

SECU Stadium (located at 90 Stadium Dr. in College Park) is the University of Maryland’s on-campus football bowl. The official capacity is 46,185. SECU Stadium seating features a lower bowl, mezzanine/club level, and upper (200/300) decks.

SECU Stadium Seating Chart (section numbers & levels)

SECU Stadium uses a familiar three-tier layout:

  • Lower bowl (concourse level): Numbered sections typically run across the lower rim (look for sections in the single- and 20s). These are closest to the field for touchdown views.
  • Mezzanine / club (mid level): The Tyser Tower/Mezzanine and marked “M” or mid-20 sections (popular for seatbacks and covered views).
  • Upper deck (200s & 300s): Higher rows give full-field perspective and often the best value per sightline. Interactive, seat-by-seat maps are available to confirm exact rows & seat numbers.

If you need the exact row & seat numbers for a specific section, the official SECU/UMD seating diagram and TickPick’s interactive SECU map (above) both show row-by-row numbering.

Where the Students Sit (and where the energy is)

Maryland designates a large student block on the concourse level. Sections 8–16 are reserved for University of Maryland students. This area delivers the loudest chants, standing crowds, and the most “college-game” energy.

If you want high-octane atmosphere, aim near these sections. If you prefer quieter, family-friendly seating, pick sideline or upper-deck seats away from this zone.

Visitor Seating (where away fans sit)

In recent seasons the athletics department relocated visiting-team seating to select upper and club sections. For example, visiting sections were listed as Sections 202, 302, 303 and 304 in recent season planning. Check your game’s ticket description if you want to sit near (or far from) visiting fans.

The official ticket page for each game will confirm visitor blocks before you buy.

Best seats at SECU Stadium by priority (view, atmosphere, value, comfort)

Not every fan wants the same out of their college football gameday experience. Here, we’ve broken down where the best seats in SECU Stadium are, based on your preferences and priorities.

  • Best overall view: Upper sideline (100-series / mid-deck) around midfield. These seats are ideal for reading formations.
  • Closest to the action: Lower-bowl sideline sections near the 50-yard line (lower 4–6 and 24–26 areas are consistently recommended).
  • Best atmosphere: Student sections (8–16) and areas near the band. These sections are by far the loudest and most spirited.
  • Best value: Upper corners and 300-level endzone sections. These are cheaper sections while still good for viewing touchdowns and taking photos.
  • Best comfort / premium: Tyser Tower suites and mezzanine/club seats (M20–M27 on many maps) come with seatbacks, indoor lounges, and premium concessions.

SECU Stadium seat orientation & sightline tips (sun, scoreboard, obstructions)

SECU Stadium’s large, new videoboard sits in the west end zone. This is, notably, one of the country’s largest 1080p HDR boards. Therefore, west-end seats have the big screen to one side which is great for viewing replays.

Avoid the very first rows of the lower bowl if you want to see the opposite sideline clearly. Mid-rows balance proximity with a full-field view. Upper-deck sideline seats are best for tracking plays and formations.

ADA accessibility at SECU Stadium

SECU Stadium provides accessible seating at multiple points across the venue, with companion seating available nearby. Accessible locations include (but aren’t limited to) the top of Section 2, top of Section 9, top of Section 28, club-level aisles, and view-level aisles.

Additionally, Guests may request a companion seat. The stadium also offers accessible parking, paratransit vans, elevators and accessible restrooms; contact the Maryland Ticket Office for reservations and documentation.

Recent stadium updates & fan-experience improvements

Maryland has upgraded SECU Stadium in recent seasons. The stadium now features a new 120×54 ft 1080p HDR videoboard, a Musco LED lighting system with show-lighting features, and more.

In 2025, Maryland widened their lower-level seating and added handrails and accessibility improvements to boost comfort and safety.
