The Top 5 Heroic Performances by 2015 MVP Stephen Curry
A list of the 5 most heroic performances by Stephen Curry isn’t exactly easy to create. How do you just pick 5? To win the award, Curry had to beat out the Houston Rockets’ James Harden for the award, and some people still doubt the decision. The media was buzzing with speculation up until the final announcement. Curry has so much talent around him in Golden State that sometimes it’s just too hard to see how much he really means to his team. In the end, these plays of 2015 helped make the decision to name Curry MVP.
5.) Curry Leads Golden State to Victory Over the Los Angeles Clippers
What is better than watching Steph Curry go off? Watching Curry go off in the playoffs. To up the difficulty of this feat, Curry went off against one of the best point guards in the NBA, Chris Paul. The Los Angeles Clippers would come back to beat the Golden State Warriors in 7, but sports fans could see a rematch of the intense inner-state rivalry in the 2015 Western Conference Finals.
4.) Stephen Curry Hits a Three to Drop the Orlando Magic
The difficulty of this heroic game winner is insane. Stephen Curry takes the ball up the floor with about 8 seconds left in the game. He didn’t even bother to take a timeout; Curry was all poise. He stutter steps towards the basket and then hits the step back three-point shot for the win. The Orlando Magic didn’t stand a chance.
3.) Stephen Curry Scores 51 Against the Dallas Mavericks
At one point in this game, the Golden State Warriors were down 24-4 and things were not looking good. And then Steph Curry happened. The MVP is supposed to be able to put his team on his shoulders at any moment, and that is exactly what Curry did here. Curry catches fire and drops 51 points on the Dallas Mavericks; 30 points coming from three-point range. After being down 20 points in the first quarter, the Warriors would ride Curry’s hot shooting to a 24-point victory.
2.) Stephen Curry goes HAM on the New York Knicks
Stephen Curry has always been a sharp shooter. But up until just a few years ago, people continued to doubt Curry due to his size. Boy, were they wrong to doubt this kid. In 2013, Curry went 11-13 from downtown in one of the best shooting performances of his career. No matter how hard the New York Knicks tried to stop Curry, it just was not going to happen. The tenacity Curry shows is one of his most underrated qualities, but it definitely shines through during this 54-point performance. Curry’s 11 three-point shots made in one game is a Warriors’ franchise record.
1.) Curry drops the Mavericks in overtime
Jermaine O’Neal started it all with a block. Then the rest is all Steph Curry. To be honest, the play doesn’t look very promising. Once again, with the game on the line, Curry takes the game into his own hands. Only this time it’s in overtime. The Warriors decide not to take a timeout and let Curry do his thing. Good call. Curry drains a difficult shot, fading away toward the corner. The rest is history. The Golden State Warriors take down the Dallas Mavericks with less than a second remaining in overtime. Now that is clutch.
