LeBron’s Headband, Conley’s Mask Turn Tide in Second Round

May 8, 2015 by

Following the opening game of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ second round series with the Chicago Bulls, LeBron James and company were in a bad way. Forced to face a motivated Bulls team led by the NBA’s 2014-15 Most Improved Player, Jimmy Butler, without the services of star forward Kevin Love, the King was made to stomach the bitter taste of defeat on his own court.

Enter the headband.

LeBron’s longtime on-court accessory made its triumphant return in time for Game 2 and the ensuing results changed the course of the series. James finished the game with 33 points, eight rebounds and five assists and the Cavs were able to even the series at one win a piece.

King James’ “crown” wasn’t the only accessory to save the day in the NBA Playoffs. After falling to the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of their series, the Memphis Grizzlies looked to be on the ropes. Thankfully, Grizz point-man Mike Conley returned for the second game, protective face mask and all.

Conley’s 22 points paced the fifth-seeded Grizzlies to a 97-90 victory to help Memphis even the series score with top-seeded Golden State.

Who knew accessorizing meant so much in the NBA Playoffs!
