Talib Kweli Releases “Heads Up Eyes Open” feat. Rick Ross
Socially conscious rapper Talib Kweli has unveiled a new song off his forthcoming album Radio Silence. “Heads Up Eyes Open”, an uplifting, piano and bass guitar driven jaunt, features Rick Ross, a gospel choir, and expertly crafted lyrics that explore a range of characters and their personal ethics. On the J Rhodes-produced track, you can hear Kweli discuss social activism and its interpersonal conflicts. Meanwhile, Bingham croons the uplifting hook. You can check out “Heads Up Eyes Open” below.
It’s no surprise that Talib Kweli has remained active this year, as its been a chaotic and eventful year of political protest and raising social awareness. Both themes of police brutality and racial injustice have resurfaced in Kweli’s most recent cut, leading us to believe that Radio Silence will be another album packed with knowledge, passion, and relevancy. “Heads Up Eyes Open” touches on civil disobedience and media misinformation, while also reminding Kweli’s fans to stay positive.
Radio Silence drops on November 17th. We’re not sure who else will appear on Kweli’s forthcoming project, but considering the first single features the legendary Rick Ross, we’re keeping our hopes up for a star-studded track list, in addition to a “Radio Silence” Tour.
