This Week’s Big Ticket Game - Cleveland Browns vs New England Patriots
In this week’s installment of TickPick’s Big Ticket Game, quarterback Tom Brady leads the New England Patriots (3-1) into Cleveland to face the winless Browns (0-4) this Sunday, Oct. 9 at FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Browns have had their fair share of bad luck through the years, be it a carousel of shoddy quarterbacks, major gaffes, untimely penalties, blocked field goal returns, injuries or just freak accidents. The Browns and their fans have endured many painful moments since the team’s relocation back to Cleveland in 1999. Since then, the Browns have gone a miserable 87-189. The Patriots, conversely, have experienced one of the greatest runs in NFL history, going 198-78, winning four Super Bowls and appearing in two others since 1999.
However, with every new season brings optimism and hope for a better team and record. Although the Browns are off to another slow start, there is a noticeable difference between the 2016 Browns and the team’s previous 17 seasons in Cleveland. That credit belongs to first-year head coach Hue Jackson. Jackson brings a much-needed mental and physical toughness to the organization. He has the football pedigree — over 30 years in football — to turn the franchise into a perennial winner. Building a winner from scratch takes years to develop, and the Browns are no exception, but the team’s front office hired the right guy to transform the franchise.
Unfortunately, the Browns have dealt with several heart-breaking losses and questionable calls this season, but the team’s competitiveness and grit has shined through and brought belief to fans, who have patiently waited years for a winner. Browns fans are the most dedicated and passionate in the NFL and will swarm to FirstEnergy Stadium at any chance they have to see winning football. If the Browns are to have any shot against the Patriots, they will need every fan to show up for the game and for the team to use every scrap of talent they have as they will have their hands full with this loaded Patriots team.
The most important aspect of this game is Brady’s return from suspension. Looking back at Brady’s career, when he has played with any looming shadow of controversy, he wins. After the Indianapolis Colts accused the Patriots of deflating the footballs during the 2014 AFC Championship game, the reason for Brady’s suspension, he beat the Seattle Seahawks two weeks later in Super Bowl 49 in the midst of the controversy. Brady is as polarizing and popular as any player in NFL history, and fans from all franchises flock to see him play. He will most certainly be ready to play come Sunday.
With over 1,300 tickets listed for sale and a get-in price of $89 per ticket for this game, TickPick has seen an increase of over 20 percent in ticket sales since Sunday, Oct. 2. This is no-short term fluke as the Browns have already seen a 2 percent increase in attendance from last season. Browns fans want to see their team play as belief in a franchise revival looms. The combination of a more competitive Browns team, Tom Brady returning to play and the Patriots coming to town explains why we have seen the huge spike in sales. We fully expect the current sales trend for this game to continue to grow as gameday draws near. This week’s big ticket game will be worth the price of admission to see in person. Be sure to get your tickets for this game before they are gone.
