Violinist and performance artist Lindsey Stirling got her start as a YouTube star, with a series of popular choreographed performance videos that garnered millions of views. In addition to her YouTube fame, she gained further recognition as a finalist on the fifth season of America’s Got Talent in 2010. Her unique music style combines classical violin with genres such as hip hop and EDM. Stirling released her self-titled debut album in 2012, followed by her sophomore record, Shatter Me, in 2014.

Formerly a Nickelodeon star, pop singer Ariana Grande left the network (and her squeaky-clean image) behind to pursue career in music. She released her debut album, Yours Truly, in 2013, showcasing her Mariah Carey-esque vocal range and featuring appearances from artists like Big Sean and Mac Miller. Her next album, My Everything, dropped a year later, hitting the number one spot in multiple countries. Rising to fame in the late 1990s, Shania Twain emerged to become one of the most successful female country artists in the history of the genre. By the time she released her multi-platinum second album The Woman in Me in 1995, she was a Grammy Award winner and a mainstream crossover success. Her next album, the astoundingly 20x platinum Come On Over, came out in 1997 and to this day still holds the record as the best-selling country album of all time. Flash forward to 2015, and Twain is headed out on the road for her first tour in 11 years, still rocking it at almost 50 years old. She has stated that she plans to release a new album once the tour wraps.

One of the most revered acts in the music world today, the Foo Fighters, are back with their first album in three years, the highly anticipated Sonic Highways. Each track on the album was inspired by and recorded in a different U.S. city, though not once on the record does the band stray from their own sound. It’s been a big year for the Foo Fighters in addition to Sonic Highways. With the release of the album also came an eight-episode HBO series of the same name, directed by Dave Grohl himself. The band is now out on their Sonic Highways World Tour, which kicked off in July, and are (as usual) selling out huge stadiums nationwide.

As of 2015, Toro y Moi is still bringing the smooth chillwave beats, and just released his latest album What For? in April.

The Who, considered one of the all-time greatest rock bands, will be making an appearance in Los Angeles this month as part of their 50th anniversary tour. With the classic lineup of Roger Daltrey on lead vocals, Pete Townshend on guitar, Keith Moon on drums, and John Entwistle on bass, The Who has been regarded as a legendary rock band for decades, playing a key part in the British Invasion of the 1960s. Despite the tragic losses of Moon and Entwistle over the years, The Who still remains active today with Daltrey and Townshend continuing to write and perform music. In 2014, they released the hits compilation album The Who Hits 50, which included the band’s first new material in nearly a decade.

My Morning Jacket formed in the late ’90s in Louisville, KY. Led by frontman Jim James, whose ethereal voice and incredible range are impressive to say the least, the band is known for their amazing live performances. Though rooted in alt-country and rock, My Morning Jacket often delves into different genres and experiments with their sound. The band just released a new album, titled The Waterfall, this May.
