Will Kendrick Lamar Tour in 2020?

We are months away from the three year anniversary of DAMN., the Pulitzer prize-winning album by Kendrick Lamar. In the years since, Kendrick has produced Black Panther: The Album and contributed to the soundtrack for Creed II. But, much like the rest of his career, Kendrick has remained extremely tight-lipped when it comes to his forthcoming solo album.

Though years go by without much noise from Kung-Fu Kenny, fans can be assured that when his presence does arise, it is meaningful. Which is why, due to Montreal’s premier music festival Osheaga announcing their 2020 lineup, fans ought to be excited about Kendrick Lamar being Sunday’s headliner.

The announcement of the 2020 Osheaga Music Festival lineup comes a few weeks after tweets from Bill Werdecurrent Billboard columnistand the consequent gossip that swirled around them. Not only did Werde reveal that Kendrick’s new album could be in the finishing stages, but he also stated some of the record’s characteristics.

Though we think it’s acceptable (encouraged, even) to start getting excited about Kendrick Lamar’s 2020 album release, Werde added a disclaimer on the unpredictable, and often long process of record-making. “Also, just to be clear, just because recording had hit a point where folks believe it may be finished — albums go back to the studio all the time after this point, and for a million different reasons,” he wrote.

In addition to Kendrick Lamar’s headlining slot at Osheaga, the Compton rapper also has a dozen bookings across the pond. From Lollapalooza Stockholm, to American Express British Summertime, to the Wireless Festival in Germany, Kendrick Lamar is essentially going on a limited 2020 World Tour this Summer.

Which means North America could be next. Stay tuned, as we are predicting that Kendrick Lamar drops his first single in February, an album in April, and a 2020 tour announcement to follow.
