The Beatles Rooftop Concert

Every Friday, the TickPick blog is going to feature a five video playlist of what we believe, in our opinion, are some of the best of the live music performances on YouTube. Though these videos don’t have anyone licking hammers (no offense Miley), they do feature arena sized crowds, killer queens, and illegal rooftop concerts. Here are five of the best classic rock videos on YouTube. Feast your eyes, and enjoy.

1. Under Pressure- Queen

This is the first recording of Queen performing this song live. Watch Freddie Mercury command the stage and deliver his rock-opera style vocals. If you don’t get chills, call me surprised.

2. More Than a Feeling/Smells Like Teen Spirit- Nirvana Live @ Reading, 1992

The iconic Seattle grunge-rock band performs Boston and their hit single at the famous European rock festival, Reading and Leeds. At the height of their career, watch Cobain rock out in a night gown, while baby Dave Grohl loses his temper with a drum set.

3. I Will Follow- U2, Live @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre

I have no idea what’s going on with Bono’s hair, but this concert is known as one of the best to ever happen at this legendary music venue in Morrison, CO. Keep your eyes peeled for the crazy fan who makes her way across the stage before a security guard takes her away.

4. Everlong- Foo Fighters Live @ Wembley Stadium

This concert goes down in the books as far as Arena Rock goes. The guitar intro to “Everlong” fills the stadium, making the gigantic crowd jump and scream in unison. Dave Grohl, you have our attention.

5. Don’t Let Me Down- The Beatles, Live on a rooftop

Need I say more? Not only was this performance hardly legal (police officers seen in the background), it was the last live performance given by the rock band who changed the world. Considering everything which came before, and after this performance, the video itself can be very emotional. Can history change in just 3 minutes? I think it did.
