August Wilson Theatre Seating Chart Guide

You will notice, from this seating chart of the August Wilson Theatre, that the stage is situated in the middle. For this revival of Cabaret, the August Wilson Theatre has been internally renovated so the production will be staged in the round with seats on every side of it.

At the August Wilson Theatre, the Mezzanine overlooks the orchestra section, making it pretty difficult to find a bad seat in the house. Even the sections further back, such as Mezzanine 2, Rows L & M, still offer great sight lines of the stage.

In general, the more centric to the stage your seat is the better it will be. Immediately surrounding the stage is Table Orchestra seating, offering patrons a more intimate experience of the show.

Beyond the tables is the standard Orchestra, of which the rows further back (G through L) have less good sight lines and more audience obstruction. Fans considering these tickets might first look at the lower/ front rows of the Mezzanine.

Orchestra Seating at the August Wilson Theatre

Some of the orchestra seating at the August Wilson Theatre, for Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, is designated for VIP experiences. These seats are located around the stage, and are labeled as Orchestra Table Seating. If you want to sit in the Orchestra section located behind these tables, above and below the stage, make sure you are purchasing Orchestra tickets.

If you are not wanting to shell out the big bucks for Orchestra Table Seating, the Orchestra sections for Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club still offer intimate, high-value seats. Though, we suggest avoiding the last rows of the Orchestra section as the sight lines can be difficult and the audience obstruction begins to factor in.

Generally, Orchestra rows H through L (especially the further from center the seat is) aren’t going to be as good as early rows in the Mezzanine. If you’re committed to sitting Orchestra for Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, we suggest aiming for Rows D through H and seats 106 through 116, or 204 through 211.

Mezzanine Seating at the August Wilson Theatre

The Mezzanine at the August Wilson Theatre is broken down into four sections. According to some theater goers, the Mezzanine on the south side of the stage (sections 1, 2, and 3) offer better view of Cabaret than Mezzanine 4. Though, fans ought to know that there is no elevator access up to the Mezzanine (except to Mezzanine Table Seating 2).

Many fans agree that the first few rows of the Mezzanine (Rows A through C) are much preferred over the Orchestra at August Wilson. Though the sides of the Mezzanine are not obstructed, the more central to the row the better the seat.

Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club Box Seats

Unlike most theaters, there are no traditional box seats at the August Wilson Theatre. Instead, there are side walls that finish at the stage to make for a wider view.

The best seats in the house, offering a VIP experience of Cabaret, will be the Orchestra Table seating. These seats include half bottle of Moët & Chandon, a light 3-course meal, and a dessert at intermission.

August Wilson Theatre Reviews

via TripAdvisor

“I wanted to see this show with the original cast and am very glad that we did. I’m also glad our seats were on the orchestra/main level. We were in row H and could see everyone perfectly. I loved the innovative reconfiguration of the theatre. It really did feel like a German cabaret. The performance was excellent. My daughter and I both loved it.”

via Yelp

“Cabaret” has a long production history in NYC, and this latest revival at the August Wilson Theatre is spectacular. Set in Berlin during the early 1930s, the musical focuses on the hedonistic nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub where “life is beautiful” even as the Nazis rise to power and the outside world crumbles into violence, racism and chaos. The August Wilson Theatre has been transformed into a gorgeous replica of the Kit Kat Club with a circular stage in the middle of the venue flanked by tables where patrons can order food/drinks, as well as regular orchestra and mezzanine seats. One enters the theatre through a dim cement alley to set the tawdry mood. We had orchestra seats with good legroom and great sight lines.

Eddie Redmayne was perfect as the debauched emcee, and Gayle Rankin sang her heart out as dissipated showgirl Sally Bowles. I guess it’s inevitable to make comparisons of this production with prior ones. I saw “Cabaret” in 1998 at Studio 54 with Alan Cummings as emcee and Natasha Richardson (RIP) playing a more vulnerable Sally Bowles. That was a darker production with more pathos and less razzle dazzle. Which was better? It’s all a matter of taste, each version wonderful in its own way.

Pro Tips: Tickets must be purchased through the SeatGeek app. No pictures/videos of the production are allowed. (Staff placed stickers on everyone’s phone to prevent any verboten photography). Highly recommended!”

This production at the August Wilson Theatre will have a limited number of $25 tickets available for each performance. These tickets will be sold via an online lottery at luckyseat.com

Tickets to Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club are in extremely high demand, which drives up their cost on the secondary market.
