The MLB Playoffs are underway, and while Covid-19 has certainly thrown a wrench into baseball fans’ plans to attend their team’s games thus far, good news is on the way, as Commissioner Manfred has stated that the league intends to allow a limited amount of fans to attend playoff games, starting with the AL and NL Championship Series.

Baseball fans can expect tickets for this year’s MLB Playoffs to be in great demand due to the pent-up desire to finally catch their favorite teams in person, in addition to the fact that these games represent the highest stakes of any this season. Teams that are still contending and giving their fans plenty of hope will keealp up huge demand and high prices for tickets to catch these playoff games in person, which prompts the question: how can you get cheaper MLB Playoffs tickets?

When Do MLB Playoff Tickets Go On Sale?

The MLB will only be selling tickets to the NLCS and World Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. All seven games of each series will go onsale Tuesday, October 6th at 10am CST on and A total of 11,500 tickets will be available for each game, which is a little under 30% of Globe Life Field’s capacity. Of those tickets distributed,10,550 of them will be spread throughout the main sections of ballpark and 950 will be in suites.

We do always recommend following teams’ and venues’ social media pages and signing up for their newsletters in order to get the most up-to-date information, though be aware that presales and ticket release dates may vary and are subject to change.

Where Can I Purchase MLB Playoffs and World Series Tickets?

In recent, non-Covid years, if your favorite team qualifies for the playoffs, the teams would send around playoff onsale offers to fans who have partial or season ticket packages for that season, which is the best way to get early access to extremely in-demand MLB playoff tickets. Once these presales are through, teams will release whatever leftover tickets available to the general public, which will likely be an extremely tough buy from the primary market and will result in high prices on the limited tickets available once they hit the resale market.

Once tickets quickly sell out on the primary market, if you’re seeking ALCS, NLCS, or World Series tickets for 2020, you can find those same seats on TickPick at prices 10% cheaper than our major competing marketplace.

Where Are MLB Playoff Games Being Held in 2020?

In a unique wrinkle that is modeled after the “bubble” environments utilized by both the NBA and NHL during their playoffs, the MLB will be holding all playoff games for the Divisional Series through the Championship Series for American League teams in Los Angeles and San Diego at Dodger Stadium and Petco Park, and the National League Division and Championship Series will be held in Houston and Arlington at Minute Maid Park and the brand-new Globe Life Field. The World Series will be held at Globe Life Field.

How to Get Sold-Out MLB Playoff tickets

If you weren’t able to secure tickets through any presales or general sales for the playoffs, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Tickets can still be purchased from secondary marketplaces, although the prices will not be at face value. With these games being the highest stakes of any that will occur in any given season, market prices are anticipated to be on the higher side, but that doesn’t mean that good deals can’t be had – if you know where to look. If you get your ALCS, NLCS, or World Series tickets on TickPick, you’ll avoid all service fees and save 10% over our largest competitor, for the same seats.
