Will Arctic Monkeys Tour in 2022?

It’s been four years since the Alex Turner-led English rock band Arctic Monkeys released a new album. The band’s last record, 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, was a lunar-inspired concept album documenting a futuristic post-apocalyptic moon colony that Turner forged in his mind.

Dubbing his makeshift studio “Lunar Surface,” an homage to the theory of Stanley Kubrick faking the Apollo moon landing on a soundstage, Turner drew out of his upright piano some of his most visionary material to date. Some fans determined Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino was too much of a left turn. But most fans went along with Turner’s multi-faced, absurdist album. It was a journey they were willing to take with the artist, especially after the wildly successful AM.

Now, the Arctic Monkeys are back.

Four years after Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, the Arctic Monkeys are finally back with a new single, a new album, and even a few tour dates. Fans, this is just the beginning of what Arctic Monkeys have planned for 2022 and 2023. Here is everything we know about the new Arctic Monkeys album and 2022 tour.

The new Arctic Monkeys album is titled The Car.

Their new album, The Car, will feature the two singles Arctic Monkeys have shared with fans this year: “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” and “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball.”

According to the press release, the band’s upcoming record “finds Arctic Monkeys running wild in a new and sumptuous musical landscape and contains some of the richest and most rewarding vocal performances of Alex Turner’s career.”

A new Arctic Monkeys music video

So far, we have one new music video from the Arctic Monkeys’ upcoming project The Car. The video is for their most recently released track, and the first song listed on the record, “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball.” The lo-fi video, at first glance, seems inconspicuously random. But we think fans should pay attention to the specific images, and instruments, seen and heard throughout the production. “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball,” after all, is the first taste of The Car. Knowing the intentional process behind Alex Turner’s creative output, we think there is tons to glean from this video. Check out the “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball” visuals, below.
