What Is Rolling Loud’s Festival History?
Rolling Loud began in February 2015 in Miami Gardens, Florida, with headliners Schoolboy Q. A$AP Ferg, and Travis Scott gracing the stage. Other rappers, including the popular Denzel Curry, also performed.
The first Rolling Loud festival lasted just a day, but it became clear to founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Charif that this festival had the potential to grow. In 2023, the event was hosted in Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium, with its largest lineup yet in a venue that typically hosts NFL games.
In 2017, the organizers of Rolling Loud Miami expanded the reach of the festival to the West Coast. The first California Rolling Loud festival was initially held in the Bay Area before heading to San Bernadino, then settling in Inglewood in Los Angeles in 2018.
The festival expanded again, this time heading to New York in 2019. Through constant progressions toward success, Rolling Loud quickly became known as the premier festival for rap.
Rolling Loud fest offers Loud Club tickets for true superfans. Members get access to a clear view of the main stage through an elevated deck, a VIP entrance with parking and valet options, couches, tables, waiters, food delivered to your section, and even celebrity appearances.
Rolling Loud has a long list of acceptable and banned items, which we recommend viewing before you make your way to the festival grounds.
They won’t allow audio recording devices, strollers, beach towels, chairs, or coolers, but they do allow mobile phones and chargers, ear plugs, e-cigarettes and vape pens, and Gopros. Their bag policy includes small, hand-sized purses and clear bags.
Rolling Loud Location
The US Rolling Loud music fest is held in California’s Hollywood Park. Finding out how to navigate the area before you go is probably best. That way, you won’t have to worry about getting lost. For more information on other locations, you can easily find it on the schedule.
Getting There
Hollywood Park sits on a massive 300 acres of land and is easy to access through public transport if you prefer to avoid parking fiascos and driving through traffic.
If you plan to fly in through LAX, it’s about a 13-minute drive via Century Boulevard. For public transport, you need to walk seven minutes to Lakewood Beach Station, catch bus 111, and get out at Century/Yukon. After that, it’s a 13-minute walk to the park.
Rolling Loud Headliner Information
As the best hip-hop music festival in the world, Rolling Loud headliners are always the industry’s top rappers, both in terms of popularity and talent.
Past headliners include Kendrick Lamar, Migos, and Post Malone. Other acts featured at the festival include Kodak Black and Lil Baby. In 2023, festivalgoers will get to see Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Future hit the stage.
Travis Scott is one of Rolling Loud’s recurring artists, having performed at the first festival and at their latest. Known for his psychedelic sounds, Scott’s style deviates from what people typically think of when they think of hip-hop. It’s still solidly hip-hop but with key elements that give his music a distinct flavor.
Lil Wayne also stands as a recurring performer on Rolling Loud’s stages. The rapper is a Grammy Award-winning artist known for “A Milli” and “Lollipop.” Contrasting Travis Scott’s more smooth sounds, Lil Wayne brings raw energy that’s sure to keep the party going.
Why Is Rolling Loud So Popular?
Rolling Loud is one of the most notable hip-hop music festivals around the world, with locations in California, Florida, and New York City. Other locations include Germany, Portugal, Thailand, and Rotterdam.
The festival rivals Coachella and Lollapalooza in its popularity, especially amongst hip-hop fans. Unlike Coachella, there are Rolling Loud one day tickets available, so you can enjoy your favorite artists even if you don’t have three full days to spare.
What Is the Dress Code for the Festival?
Rolling Loud has no official dress code, but keep in mind that you may need sunscreen and you probably don’t want to wear stilettos. Accessories like glow sticks and hula hoops are not permitted.
What Makes Rolling Loud Special?
Rolling Loud began as an after-party for Rick Ross in a Florida nightclub. The event was not successful, with a loss of around $30,000. Thankfully, founders Zingler and Charif saw that there was space for a major hip-hop event. Zingler refers to Rolling Loud as the biggest nightclub in the world — and we agree.
Rolling Loud also offers a discount on tickets for all military members, Veterans, retirees, and reserves. The Rolling Loud military discount is 15% off your purchase … but we know where you can find even cheaper ways to grab your Rolling Loud tickets before they’re gone.
