Over the weekend, the Flaming Lips released a surprise digital-only album called Flaming Side of the Moon. As the presss release stated, it is intended to be “an immersive companion piece to the original 1973 album,” referring of course to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. The press release went on to explain, “listeners are encouraged …

After a two and a half year year hiatus, The Black Keys dropped their brand new single, ‘Fever’ today. They will premiere the track on US radio around 3:30 EST and the material will be their first in almost 3 years. Don’t let this fool you into thinking the band haven’t been busy, however; Auerbach …

My friend once told me anecdotally that he was the most alternative kid growing up in his tiny Massachusetts town, and that was just because he listened to Arcade Fire. I thought the sentiment was funny enough to remember for quite some time, but as I look at where the band stands in music now, …

SXSW has been unsurprisingly killing it in the music game recently. We recently posted about Damon Albarn, best known as the visionary behind the multi-platinum Grammy Award winning virtual band Gorillaz, and his first ever live performance of “Clint Eastwood” with fellow Gorillaz members Del the Funkee Homosapien and Dan the Automator, and special guest Snoop Dogg …

Electronic music producer and mastermind Skrillex has been mysteriously absent from the EDM scene this past year, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been hard at work. Earlier this week, Skrillex announced his upcoming tour, curiously named “The Mothership Tour”. But it gets weirder (and better). This past Friday, Skrillex released an app called “Alien …

Darkside, a collaboration of electronic musician Nicolas Jaar and Brooklyn instrumentalist Dave Harrington, summoned a packed house at Terminal 5 last month, and for good reason. The progressive dance duo has been a notable presence on the scene ever since their first release as Darkside, the three-song Darkside EP, which was incredibly well-received by critics …

If you read last week’s post about the 13 coolest must-see NYC concerts in the first half of March, 2014, you may have noticed a name that sounded unfamiliar: Jungle. This eerie, yet groovy London-local band has upheld quite the mysterious identity despite their growing and fervent fanbase, made possible by the production of two share-friendly and …

“I hope I could inspire you guys as much as The Flaming Lips have inspired me and encouraged me to always be myself and to make music because I love it.” That’s a quote from Miley to her fans at at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on the third American stop of her new tour on …

Last night, TMZ stalked John Oates in Nashville long enough for him to blurt out a few little-known facts. Before hightailing it out of the camera’s view as most sane people would do around TMZ, Oates told reporters that the Hall & Oates 1977 hit, “Rich Girl” was actually about a man. …

Alright alright alright so you probably know by now that the Bonnaroo lineup will be releasing tonight. We’ve been talking it up for a while now, and while we hope it lives up to our expectations, Kanye could probably throw feces at us and ruin the whole festival like last time and we’d still jabber …
