New York Giants
Giants Looking to Turn Things Around in 2016The Giants are coming off of a down period in which they've lost 10 games in a row for two consecutive years and haven't reached the playoffs since winning the Super Bowl during the 2011 season. This team has one of the most dynamic players in football in receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and a steady quarterback in Eli Manning who has been posting some of his best statistical campaigns of his career in recent years. The early look at their schedule this season looks to be very forgiving, as it is ranked just the 30th-most difficult in the NFL this year in terms of the winning percentages of the opponents last year. They still have some tough games ahead, though, as their divisional matchups are among the toughest in the league with what figures to be a much healthier and improved Cowboys team and the Redskins coming off of the division title. Their opener in Week 1 at Dallas could reveal what's to come with the team this year, and if the contest is as close as last year's opener versus Dallas, it will be a game that America will want to be tuned into. Giants Do Well to Address Problem Areas in 2016 DraftThe Giants did well in addressing needs during this draft. They took cornerback Eli Apple out of Ohio State with their first-round pick, and Apple should provide an immediate upgrade for a defense that had a horrendous time defending the pass last season. In this pass-happy era of the NFL, that won't fly, and the Giants did well to address this early. Their second-round pick Sterling Shepard, a wide receiver out of Oklahoma that is one of the best receivers in this class and should slot in right away as a number two receiver behind phenom Odell Beckham Jr. With an inevitable season marred by injury from Victor Cruz, this was an underrated need and also a good value pick by New York. Fifth-rounder Paul Perkins out of UCLA could emerge as a lead back for a team that has had a running back by committee in the last few seasons. A true workhorse back emerging would be a huge boon for an offense that has aired it out in recent seasons but struggled to eat up clock with their run game.
