Los Angeles Clippers Info

The franchise entered the NBA as the Buffalo Braves, an expansion team that began play in the 1970-71 season. Led by future Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo, the Braves advanced to three straight Eastern Conference semifinals in the 1970s. Despite their early modest success, the franchise was moved to San Diego in 1978 amid arena issues and renamed the Clippers. After the team was sold to Donald Sterling in 1982, the franchise relocated to Los Angeles in 1984, where the franchise struggled for much of the next two decades. In the early 1990s, the Clippers made their first playoff appearances since moving to LA, led by Ron Harper, Danny Manning, Charles Smith, and Loy Vaught. After moving to Staples Center in 1999, the Clippers’ struggles continued until the arrivals of Blake Griffin (2009) and Chris Paul (2011), who turned the “Lob City” Clippers into a perennial playoff team. After the breakup of that team, the arrivals of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in 2019 turned the Clippers into legitimate title contenders ahead of a proposed move to a new arena, the Intuit Dome, that is scheduled to be completed in 2024. George will rely on a supporting cast that features postseason hero Reggie Jackson, center Ivica Zubac, and veterans Nic Batum, Serge Ibaka, Luke Kennard, and Marcus Morris.
