Utah Jazz Info

The Jazz were founded in New Orleans as an expansion team that began play in the 1974-75 season. The team traded for Pete Maravich, who was a college star at nearby LSU. Despite Maravich’s presence, the franchise struggled on the court and with financial issues off it. The team moved to Salt Lake City prior to the 1979-80 season, and after some initial struggles, the Jazz would eventually become one of the NBA’s most successful franchises. Early stars Adrian Dantley, Darrell Griffith, and Mark Eaton laid a foundation that Karl Malone and John Stockton built upon. The Malone-Stockton partnership (along with head coach Jerry Sloan) was one of the most successful in league history, with the Jazz making the playoffs every season the duo played together, appearing in two NBA Finals and five Western Conference finals. Utah has rebooted since then with the Deron Williams-Carlos Boozer era to Gordon Hayward to the current star duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

How Many Championships Have the Utah Jazz Won?

Utah are still seeking their first NBA championship. The Karl Malone and John Stockton-led Jazz lost consecutive NBA Finals to the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls in the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons. Those Malone-Stockton teams also lost Western Conference finals series to the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1991-92 season, the Houston Rockets in 1993-94, and the Seattle SuperSonics in 1995-96. Utah also lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2006-07 conference finals.

Who are the Utah Jazz’s Biggest Rivals?

The Jazz had memorable playoff series in the 1980s and 1990s with the other top teams in the West, in particular the Seattle SuperSonics, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets. The Jazz also faced the Chicago Bulls dynasty in back-to-back Finals in 1996-97 and 1997-98.

Who is on the Utah Jazz Roster in 2021-22?

The Jazz are once again led by the duo of All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell and center Rudy Gobert, a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. They anchor a deep roster that hopes to make another run at an NBA Finals appearance: wings Joe Ingles, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Royce O’Neal; guards Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson; and newcomers Rudy Gay, Eric Paschall, and Hassan Whiteside.

Who is the Head Coach for the Utah Jazz?

Considered one of the NBA’s brightest minds, Quin Snyder enters his eighth season as Jazz head coach. Snyder has guided Utah to six consecutive playoff appearances, including the top seed in the West in the 2020-21 season.

Are the Utah Jazz Requiring Fans to Be Vaccinated or Wear Masks This Season?

The Utah Jazz are not requiring proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to attend games at Vivint Arena. Fans that are not fully vaccinated must wear masks at all times, except when actively eating or drinking.

Do Children Need Their Own Ticket for Utah Jazz Games?

All children under the age of 24 months do not require a ticket, but must share a seat with an accompanying ticketed adult. Children aged 24 months and older need a ticket for entry.

Where do the Utah Jazz play their home games?

The Utah Jazz play their home games at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
