Charlie Strong was released last season after compiling three consecutive losing seasons. Entering 2017, Tom Herman will take over the helm after spending the previous season as the offensive coordinator at Ohio State. Herman is an energetic offensive mind, who will look to help Shane Buechele build off an efficient 2016 season. The loss of stud running back D'Onta Foreman is a significant loss, but there is strong potential in the mix of returnees. Another bright spot is star line backer Malik Jefferson who will look to terrorize offenses. It has been a while that Texas was mentioned as a top contender, but maybe Herman changes that in 2017.
