While it took many years for the stadium to be constructed, the Miami team became an official part of the MLS in 2020. Their entrance was part of a larger expansion to take the number of teams in the country from 26 to 30. Their home stadium is Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The team had a rocky start because they began their first season right before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the team recorded their first win once the season started back up in 2021 under head coach Phil Neville.
