Overview
Opening in 1989, Ed Smith Stadium is located in Sarasota, Florida and has been the spring training home of the Baltimore Orioles since 2010. Prior to the Orioles arriving in Sarasota, the Cincinnati Reds called Ed Smith Stadium home from 1998-2009. After the 2010 season, the stadium was renovated and a thousand seats were added, increasing the capacity of Ed Smith Stadium to 8,500. Since the renovation, all sections except the left pavilion have stadium seats.
Seats in Shade
A roof sits overhead on rows 9 and up for every reserve section besides 201, 212-214, and 225. By the start of afternoon games the sun is behind the first base side grandstand and provide shade to rows 7 and up in sections 203-211, and rows 9 and up in sections 215-223. As the game and afternoon moves on, shade covers the entire reserve grandstand on the first base side, while the third base side shaded seats remain the same.
Parking
Most fans will park in the large grass field across from the ballpark on 12th street, but another option is a small paved/grass lot behind left field.
Bullpens
The Orioles' bullpen is located down the right field line while the visitor's bullpen is located down the left field line.
