About Paramore
Paramore began in Nashville’s suburbs. Hayley Williams initially signed with Atlantic records as a solo artist but eventually brought in her high school friends to build a band around the alternative sounds they were drawn to. Even though Atlantic records had designs of turning Hailey Williams into another Kelly Clarkson, the record label agreed to let them find their own sound, giving fans one of the most iconic voices in the pop-punk world.
After the release of Riot!, Paramore saw huge commercial success with “Misery Business” and “That’s What You Get” taking top spots on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Though one of the band's greatest hits, Williams expressed discomfort about the misogynistic undertones in “Misery Business” and in 2018 decided they would no longer play it live.
This Is Why infuses the tough realizations and introspection the band was able to do in the years since After Laughter and the pandemic.
For their 2023 tour, they partnered with British alternative rock band Foals, all-girl rock outfit The Linda Lindas, and British alt heroes Bloc Party.

Who Are Paramore’s Musical Influences?
Paramore is known for their evolution of sound, from angsty and energetic pop-punk to new wave to gospel-infused funk sounds, like in “Ain't it Fun.”
The Distillers and New Found Glory are influences for Paramore’s harder punk sounds, while Blondie influenced their new wave sounds. Paramore also incorporated some of Avril Lavigne’s angsty sounds with their own emo twist.
Paramore also influences a new generation of alternative artists, including Willow Smith, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lil Uzi Vert.
What Are Paramore’s Top Hits?
Paramore has dozens of popular songs that Paramore fans probably know by heart. However, although their music is wildly popular, Paramore doesn’t have many songs on the Billboard chart.
Over six albums, Paramore has 11 songs that made it to Billboard’s Hot 100. “Aint It Fun,” with its experimental sound, is the only Paramore song that made it to the top 10 charts. It kept its position on the chart for 24 weeks the year it was released. “Misery Business” peaked at 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remained there for 30 weeks.
