About Aerosmith
Members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry first met in 1966 when Steven Tyler walked into Joe Perry’s workplace with the members of his band called Chain Reaction. Tyler and Perry met about three years later at The Barn in Sunapee, New Hampshire. At the nightclub, Tyler also met Tom Hamilton, who would become the bassist for Aerosmith.
Famously, Joe Perry performed that night at The Barn with his group called Jam Band and caught Tyler’s attention … but probably not for the reasons you think. Perry and his band notoriously played chaotically and weren’t all that concerned with playing the correct notes.
Still, Steven Tyler saw something in Jam Band that he didn’t see in other bands of the time, and that was the energy the band brought to the stage. Tyler knew that was what he was looking for.
After a year or so, Steven Tyler grew tired of performing in club after club with Chain Reaction and often found himself in fights, like when he and the guitarist came to blows after a set.
Afterward, Tyler decided to leave for New York for Boston, where he met up with Joe Perry. The two began touring and eventually rented out an apartment on 1325 Commonwealth Avenue which became known as the Aerosmith Apartment.
Who Are Aerosmith’s Musical Influences?
Aerosmith has a number of musical influences that contributed to their overall style and artistry, including famous British rock bands The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. Other musical influences include Deep Purple, James Brown, and Led Zeppelin.
Aerosmith Background and Come Up
After the band came together and took on the name Aerosmith (which bassist Kramer came up with), the band began releasing music, starting with the debut album Aerosmith in 1973. The single “Dream On” enjoyed great reception and landed on the Billboard charts.
What followed was a string of mounting successes for the band with the releases of albums Get Your Wings in 1974, Toys in the Attic in 1975, and Rocks in 1976. The year that Rocks was released, Aerosmith played Madison Square Garden for the first time. After that December 16th show, the band has played this venue more than ten times. The band released more records, many of which went multiplatinum, bringing the band into the limelight.
Recently, in a huge honor, Aerosmith was granted a Las Vegas residency in 2022 at the Dolby Live at Park MGM. Unfortunately, Aerosmith Las Vegas tickets were canceled due to Steven Tyler’s poor health.
What Are Aerosmith Live Shows Like?
Iconic. Memorable. Exciting.
Aerosmith concerts are events you don’t want to miss, especially since this is a farewell tour. The Peace Out Tour might be one of the last times to see them perform live all together.
Despite their long careers, you can expect the running, jumping, and kicking the band has always been known for — not to mention the awesome lighting and incredible audio. The setlist changes nightly, so you might have an awesome surprise coming your way. The band’s been known to mention some nostalgic stories now and then between songs.
If you hit up other cities famous for music, like Nashville or Los Angeles, you can catch other great concerts and sporting events. Perhaps you’ll watch the Dodgers tee off against their rivals, the San Francisco Giants or the New York Yankees.
Aerosmith’s Top Hits, Awards, and Accomplishments
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band has a number of awards and top hits and accomplishments, which is no surprise seeing as they are one of the most successful rock bands that came out of the 1970s.
Aerosmith has four Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group for “Pink,” Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group for “Crazy,” and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group for “Livin’ on the Edge” and “Janie’s Got a Gun.”
They also earned 13 Grammy Award nominations for “Love in an Elevator,” “Boogie Man,” “Falling Love (Is Hard on the Knees),” and others. Other awards and nominations came from MTV Music Video Awards for “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” and Billboard Music Awards for “Cryin.”
Aerosmith Farewell Tour
Aerosmith announced that their Peace Out Tour will run from 2023 to 2024. Don’t miss out on catching this classic band as they perform in some of their last concerts.
Whichever venue you go to, always be sure to check out your venue’s policies regarding accessibility and accepted and prohibited items (like bag sizes, for example).
